Anne McLaughlin, originally from France, has lived in Quebéc since 1961.
From a very young age, she has been interested in artistic expression but due to career obligations had to put aside this activity as a serious pursuit but continued nevertheless to paint for her own pleasure.
She became involved again in her passion for Art by starting in 1976 a programme of study at the University of Concordia. She has since taken several courses at the Saidye Bronfman Art school from 1998 to 2003 and also workshops with the artist Seymore Segal in Montréal . Having been involved in printing, sculpture and painting, she decided in 1998 to focus on the latter. Anne participated in several exhibitions in Montréal and in Toronto, at Arts Sutton and in the Art Tour of the Lower Laurentians.
Her work springs from her inner world. She gives expression to her awareness through abstract and figurative forms illustrated, for the most part, by the use of vivid colours. She often incorporates symbols and signs transmitting enigmatic messages which communicate their own language. Her themes deal with the interaction between man and his universe as well as expressing the consciousness of the universe as well as expressing the consciousness of the environment.
